Etsy Feature: Yaz Berry

"I grew up in the woods outside of Northfield, MN and would entertain myself by making things. My grandmother sewed and taught me quilting techniques at a young age. During my time at college in NY, I designed and made costumes for the theater. In the time since graduation I have been building my own small business as a hobby while working full time jobs. In 2010 I applied to be an artist in residence in Salem, MA and was invited to do so. I just completed six months of building an amazing portfolio and selling my creations in a small studio/retail space in the heart of Salem. Throughout my life I’ve had the fortune of traveling throughout the world and photographing the beauty surrounding me.

I find great inspiration in Eastern design and color palates. My work is heavily influenced by Eastern architecture and design. I also like pairing unexpected patterns and textures. One of my signatures is the unexpected fabrics I use to line my purses. I think the liner should be as interesting as the outer.

I specialize in one of a kind accessories, often using recycled textiles or vintage textiles. My jewelry is a mix of natural materials, found objects, vintage beads and semi precious stones.”
